Xiaomi has carved a comfortable spot for itself in the budget smartphone category. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro are its latest addition to this section. It’s predecessor the Redmi Note 4 was one of the best selling smartphones last year. With its new instalments, Xiaomi packs in a bunch of new features that strive to win over new buyers this year too. 

Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro were released earlier this year. While both these phones share a few similarities, they are different from each other. The Note 5 Pro is priced a little higher than the Note 5. If you take a look at their prices & specification, you’ll be able to see what features set them apart. Here’s a comparison between the phones to help you figure out which of the new Xiaomi’s is right for you. 

1). Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro: Camera

The Redmi Note 5 has a 12-MP rear camera with dual-tone LED flash. It has larger pixels that capture more light in the frame. This gives the image colour-accuracy and better detailing. This camera of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 also takes good low light images. The Redmi Note 5 Pro comes with a dual rear camera setup of a 12-MP and a 5-MP RGB sensor. The secondary camera is useful when capturing depth and detail in the portrait mode.  

On the front, the Redmi Note 5 has a 5-MP camera with a selfie flash. This helps take better low light selfies. This camera has a beauty mode too that enhances the selfies. The Redmi Note 5 Pro has a whopping 20-MP front camera, the first of its kind to be seen of a Xiaomi. This camera is equipped with the beauty mode too that takes better-looking selfies. 

2). Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro: Design 

Staying on par with all the 2018 releases, these two phones have incorporated the 18:9 bezel-less display. Both the phones have the same design and sport a sturdy build. The 5.99-inch display takes up most of the screen. This is a Full HD screen with 1080 x 2160-pixel resolution. The screens of these phones are covered by the Corning Gorilla Glass that protects it from accidental tumbles. The rounded corners of the phones make it easy to hold on to. 

3). Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro: Performance 

The Xiaomi Note 5 packs in a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset. This chipset offers a good balance between performance and energy efficiency. The Xiaomi Note 5 Pro, on the other hand, comes with a higher Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor. The Note 5 Pro was the first phone to use this chipset after it was released. 

The Note 5 comes in two variants. One with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage and the other with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The Note 5 Pro comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage only. These phones currently run on MIUI 9.0 but are scheduled to get the new update soon. 

4). Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro: Battery Life

Both these phones are backed by a huge 4000 mAh battery. Such a large battery can keep these phones juiced up for more than a day with average usage.
