A much-needed break from the daily 9-5 job was what I was looking for, a change that would prevail with me until I could think of my next journey; the only two thoughts wandering inside my head and my heart since a very long time. And finally, I was in a position where I got the perfect answer to my concern – a vacation to Corbett The Baagh.

One day while just scrolling through Facebook, I saw the name “Corbett The Baagh”, and there was something in the name that attracted me that I just could not wait to get there! The photos displayed on their website made me fall in love with the place, even before I had reached. Just by seeing the pictures, I could imagine how soothing and relaxing experience here it would be.

To have some company with me, I asked a friend who was a little aware of the place to join me on my journey. On my way to the resort in an open jeep, the first thing I noticed was the greenery and the calmness of the forest. Everything was normal, like any other trip until we reached the resort, after that we were zoned out and completely mesmerized by the view of the adjacent hills and the cute, pretty décor.

A peaceful getaway, far from the city’s hustle bustle was my main aim and I knew it would be fulfilled here.

The staff at the reception was very welcoming, within 10mins of arrival we were escorted to our rooms. We were staying in Leopard Cat, which was a one-bedroom suite. The next thing I noticed was the table top – neatly set up with adequate coffee, tea and sugar packets, a coffee/tea maker, water bottles and complimentary cookies.

We were quite tired after the long journey, so I decided to relax by taking a bath. I was happy that they had both, cold and hot running water at any time of the day. The bathroom was quite spacious and looked pretty too, with clean white towels, separate shower area, and a huge mirror.

I felt the room needed to breathe some fresh air, so I opened the windows. As soon as I opened them the cool breeze kissed my cheeks and blown through my hair just like in movies.

After talking to the hospitality manager, he said that we could go for the evening safari with a naturalist after our lunch. We agreed and headed for lunch at their multi-cuisine restaurant – Nivala. The name was very thoughtful and I really liked it. The next thing that I really liked was their food and the variety. Their menu had quite a lot of options to choose from and the food was simply amazing! Despite having Chinese, continental etc., they didn’t miss out on their traditional food – Kumauni.

After the delicious meal, we met the naturalist who was supposed to go with us. He helped us buy the tickets from the entry gate and we boarded the jeep along with a few more people.

Many people think of wildlife sanctuaries as boring because they think it’s only productive if you catch a glimpse of the tiger, which is rare.

I was also one of them but, my thoughts changed when I visited this time. The sound of birds chirping piercing the cool, the flock of elephants playing with each other, the barking dear’s alarm clock that the tiger is somewhere around, the verdant nature, the silhouettes of the nut-brown trees made my safari a super hit. We had to leave the park before the sun sets, so we all quickly clicked some shots and headed back to our resort. My friend and I were so tried but the live-singing made us feel so relaxed.

The naturalist had told us that the morning safari is better and there’s a good chance of spotting a tiger.

So, the next morning we woke up at 5:30 for our safari with the same naturalist, it was so calm and serene. Also, to our surprise the naturalist was right. We did spot a tiger from a distance. But I was happy, my purpose of the safari was accomplished.

After the safari, we were very hungry. Without wasting even a single minute we dug into our breakfast.

Then in our leisure time, we thought of trying a few activities at the resort. It was great to be on a trampoline after so many years, I relived my childhood days in just a few hours. They had a number of indoor and outdoor games like cricket, badminton, table-tennis and what not.

It was almost 2’o clock in the afternoon, we visited their own kitchen garden, explored a little here and there and headed for lunch. Then, we were quite tired so we dozed off for a couple of hours and woke up around 6 p.m. by a call from the restaurant. They had some tea/ coffee with pakora’s arranged, which were perfect for a quick evening snack. After that, we decided to click some pictures and explore the property a little more.

Then the manager called us, they had a wildlife movie show ready for us in the conference room. It was about the rare flora and fauna near the resort and the village. After that, we had our dinner while the live-singing was going on and then we went back to our room and slept like a baby.

We didn’t feel like leaving so soon, so we extended our trip a day more. It was our last day here and we wanted to make the most of it.

We woke up fresh and went for a nature walk with the Naturalist into the jungle that gave us a complete wilderness experience. The true feeling of being in the jungle all by yourself was quite thrilling yet fun, memorable experience.

After coming back from the Nature walk, we had our breakfast and then decided to go for a swim in the after and a spa afterward.

The swimming pool was filled with purified underground spring water and the view from there is so mesmerizing. The large deck area in front of the pool is perfect for sunbathing and some good pictures.

After the pool session, we headed to their Spa – Artha for a soothing massage and sauna. I was pretty impressed by the different oils that they had, the coffee oil has to my favorite among all.

It was our last night at the resort and it got a little chilly so they had arranged bonfire for all the guests. We danced our hearts out that night, everyone was enjoying so much, few of the guests even sang songs with the singer. It was so good to see all the lovely people enjoying. We knew that we were surely going to miss this place a lot.

The next morning, before check-out time we decided to go on a stroll to the nearby village, took some pictures in the resort, listening to a few real-life encounter stories of the villagers, they were very cooperative and kind.

Then we came back, packed our luggage and got ready for check out.

The place is purely majestic, very well maintained, pretty and beautiful. The staff does a great job of maintaining everything.

The three days that we had spent at Corbett The Baagh were amazing and we didn’t want to leave. The service and the comfort they’d provided was beyond comparison.

We thank them for their hospitality and promise to visit again, soon
