Life is uncertain. Today we are cruising along with a great career, people we love around us, a well settled life and bam – life hits hard and gets us to push ourselves into life changing decisions. How do you make the most of it and rediscover yourself?

This Interview with Amchi Mumbai cum Puneri Girl Radhika Sharma will tell you how!

Meet The Baus Girl Radhika Sharma who blogs at Thebausgirl.com . She’s a huge fan of Andy Samberg, A Mumbaikar turned Puneri media professional with over a decade experience spanned in content, video, reporting, programming and the jazz, she found her love in blogging. Today she tells us how!

  • Can you tell our readers about yourself and your blog?
I am Radhika Sharma, a Mumbaikar turned recent Punekar! Originally I am a media professional with over 10 years of work experience with various leading news networks as being an anchor, reporter, content creator and management, a  programming manager and a passionate techie. My other not-too-kicked-on-caffeine side is an unabashed foodie who is constantly on the hunt for some spicy misal pav and rich cheesecake! My blog thebausgirl.com is dedicated to all that makes Pune a beautiful, vibrant, energetic and an awesome city to live and be in. From the best food to the best fashion- I aim to capture every tiny happy detail!

  • Describe how did you first get involved into blogging? What inspired you to start your blog?
When I shifted base to Pune, I realized that the TV market was almost close to nothing. And since my work experience was entirely hands on in production and content development, I was left sitting at home for about 5 months with nothing to do! A friend took me to a baking Masterclass one weekend and that’s where the blog was born. I started writing about Pune’s lifestyle scene, change dmy perspective accordingly and haven’t looked back since.

  • Which genre and niche do you write on? What do you love most about blogging?
I write in the lifestyle space comprising mostly of events, fashion and lots of food. What I love most about blogging is that of course it’s an outlet to express myself, but more than that- I get to meet so many new and interesting people via it!

  • What is your blogging style and philosophy?
My blogging philosophy is to keep it light and fun. My writing reflects that very ideology. I want people to smile when they read my blog!

  • Who according to you should take up blogging as a full time career?
If you have a passion for stories and the knack to understand/interpret trends faster than the speed of lightning, then a blogging career is for you. Don’t worry about the writing and its technique, practice makes everything perfect.

  • As a blogger, what aspects do you expect newbie bloggers to work upon?
Language skills! I hate to say it, but the language used by some of the people today is just horrendous. You have to be willing to be social, develop your own unique style to communicate and own it and commit to your venture. Commitment to a blog is key, you have to keep the content regular in order to build your viewership.

  • With more and more bloggers joining taking up blogging as a career, do you think blogging will become yet another rat race?
Yes and no. Yes- because, the more the options are, the less it’s taken seriously. No- because, if you can stand out in a massive crowd, you have the potential and are on to something big. Like they say- there are many social networks, but there is only one Facebook!

  • Can you name some of your favorite bloggers and explain why they are your favorites?
My current favorite is Gabi is gabifresh.com. She’s a fashion blogger with a fresh outlook to style and her content is so vibrant! She’s really turned herself into a brand that people can look up to.  Other favorite is Ashish Shakya from stupidusmaximus- because his writing is just HILARIOUS!

  • What do you find the most frustrating aspect of blogging?
Keeping up with the writing. Sometimes it’s hard to juggle work and a blog – and the blog does come second, which is frustrating. Being a blogger does take a toll on work-life balance!

  • Is blogging your profession or just a hobby?
For now it’s a hobby, but I see it as a profession in the near future.

  • What do you do when you aren’t working on your blog?
Working, eating, dancing and working out- in that order!

  • How frequently do you update your blog and are you satisfied with it?
I update my blog atleast 4 times a week and I wish I could do more!

  • What was the most challenging moment in your blogging journey so far?
When I had to write my first restaurant review. The food was great barring a few things, which I honestly did not know how to portray without coming across as a total snob! Some rewrites later, all was good. I still face this problem sometimes!

  • What is the biggest difference in your life post-blogging?
I am more confident about my writing , have met so many wonderful people and made great friends! My blogging has also led me to explore Pune city much faster than I’d expected!

  • Did you have any professional help or did you created the blog yourself?
All by myself.

  • What’s your blog promotion strategy? How do you ensure you keep acquired new readers and how do you retain your existing readerbase?
For now it’s pretty simple- stay new, stay updated and keep up with social media outreach.

  • What message would you like to give to the bloggers of the world?
Be true to your writing, find your own style!

  •  What would you say that is the greatest satisfaction of being a blogger?

When someone leaves a comment on your blog saying they loved it! Or when a post helps people!

Like it? Share with your friends!
